Date: Saturday, February 10th, 2018
Venue: The Links Playing Fields, Tain

FOLLOWING on from the Saints' impressive 4-1 win over Halkirk last week, they now return to league business with a game at home to local rivals Alness United. The teams last met in December at the Highland Football Academy in what turned out to be a highly entertaining evening game on the all-weather surface. The result went the way of Alness that day thanks to a last minute goal, but this time around St Duthus will be looking to take all three points.
Manager Stuart Ross will have numerous absences to contend with, with Lewis Ross, Martyn Farquhar and Barry Kenny all missing due to work commitments, while Scott Miller is also unavailable. On the plus side, Cammy Mackintosh is expected to return to action having missed last week's cup encounter.
The St Duthus gaffer is still in bouyant mood after his team reached the North Caledonian Cup Final.
"Reaching the cup final is the reward for the hard work the boys have put in in training and in games recently. There's been a marked improvement since the Christmas break, and we'll be looking to continue that momentum into today's game. Tommy's teams always pose a stern test. We expect a battle tomorrow. We need to take the good habits from last week into this week. Our last meeting in December is still fresh in the memory and we are keen to make amends for that and put some points on the board."
Alness United are expected to be without the suspended Dave Murray who joins midfielder Craig Munro on the banned list after being shown red up at Thurso last weekend. There is likely to be a quick return to the Links for forward Miller Mackay who left the Saints in December and has since signed for Tommy Regan's side.
